WHY “FAR FROM BEING JUSt FM”?
“Redesigning the role of the Facility Manager, from a modern perspective, to improve the lives of people who come into contact with the result of our work.
We will do this through active participation in the blog, sharing experiences, opinions and points of view that, gathered together, can guide us among the topics to be explored.
This will allow us to map the activities in which the Facility Manager can make a difference, so as to give greater awareness of the role, highlighting the professionalism and centrality in the definition and application of corporate strategies”.
WHERE DID THE IDEA OF “FAR FROM BEING JUST FM” COME FROM?
FAR FROM FROM BEING JUST FM. Our primary objective is to create a community of Facility Management professionals in order to imagine and redefine the future of our professional role.
After many conversations with colleagues and insiders, ideas and various considerations, it seemed clear to me that the role of the Facility Manager needs to be redefined in our local context in a modern perspective, to enhance and communicate its contents in a correct way, highlighting the professionalism and the centrality of the role in the definition and implementation of corporate strategies, so as to obtain the same positive feedback that it enjoys in other countries where the discipline has established itself before, such as the United States, the UK and lately the United Arab Emirates, where I had the opportunity to practice this profession and which I can tell you about my direct experience.
I am sure that giving an exact representation of the role would be a difficult challenge for an individual, but there is nothing that cannot be communicated effectively through a community of professionals.
From this consideration I felt therefore the need to introduce myself, creating a digital place, in order to share our opinions on this issue.
I have therefore created this blog, where in addition to presenting myself to our professional community, through a series of articles, ideas, short posts and multimedia documents, I would like to develop a debate with the ultimate goal of mapping the activities in which the Facility Manager can make a difference, a result that can only be achieved through a constructive discussion open to all.
As already said in the post published on my personal LinkedIn profile and also reported on the LinkedIn page of the blog a few days before the launch of the website, at the cry of “start now, became perfect later” I decided to launch this blog as soon as possible, the contents as you will see will be enriched during the journey, defining them in a shared way, thanks to the dialogue that will identify the topics to be discussed, as could be done in a sort of improvised “brainstorming”, without forgetting the WHY of the initiative, that is, redesigning the role that competes us according to a more modern perspective.
So, full speed ahead! I hope that many people will want to participate actively in this debate, which will allow us to try to give the role a greater awareness of its importance, communicating it to the outside world in an effective way, you just have to follow the blog and participate in the discussions giving your valuable contribution.
Today, Friday, May 29, 2020, with the first article and my presentation pages so that we can get to know each other a little better, the adventure of this community begins, without ever forgetting the content of our WHY, the element that will constitute our North Star for the entire long journey that awaits us, because it will not be me who will show the way, but we will have to find it together.
